I'm a multi-published author of erotic fiction novels and short stories, usually M/M, in both contemporary and fantasy genres. I've been an author for almost thirty years and got my start on an old typewriter at the age of five and wrote my first novel at fourteen. Starting with the mystery genre, then fantasy, I wanted to expand my writing horizons and found erotica an intriguing subject. Probably the world's biggest bibliophile I own three-hundred plus books. I'm an avid RPG gamer and a proud owner of a DSLite, hoping to get a Wii soon. My other favorite thing to do is work in my garden (when weather permits) and am an amateur chef. Feel free to contact me to discuss writing anytime!

I've been writing since a very young age (I won't say how long ago that was) but I was in grade school when I first put pen to paper. Reading was my first true love and I devoured books like chocolate. To date I have over 300 print books in my library and am steadily building an e-book collection.

It wasn't until I was about 14 that I wrote my first novel, an awful little thing that I'm glad never saw the light of day and never will but of course as with anything, it counts as a learning experience. I've written a few dozens works, novels and short stories since then, mainly in the heroic fantasy genre.

I have seen publication in the past, as a writer that's the ultimate goal isn't it? At times, life would intervene and I wouldn't see put down a single word but still I kept on.

Then a few years back I had an experience that I can and will only describe as a "serious writing defeat". If you've seen my blog, you'll see how I have written how I'm "trying to get my groove back after a long absence from the net." Life was trying at that time and writing took a backseat to personal considerations I won't go into. After the defeat, friends encouraged me to try again but really, we writers know that unless you're in the business others can't possibly know how much heart goes into writing and what it truly entails.

When I'd all put given up on my dream I found myself perusing the net one day and I came across a contest. The BetterSex.com Erotic Fiction contest to be exact. The grand prize at the time was $2000 but it was for erotica and with the exception of fan-fiction, I'd done very little erotica. But I was intrigued, I thought, "Why not? It should be a challenge." So I wrote a story, Rose Petals and sent it in.

It didn't win.

However -- I did receive an offer to have it published in the anthology. I thought I could try again maybe, just for the experience? It's not like I was really going to be re-entering the business, right?

Strange how things turn out.

I set goals for myself. I said, "I'll submit to this one place and maybe if it gets accepted I'll try again." "Okay, maybe since I'm getting accepted I should try something longer?"

Longer turned out to be my novel manuscript, Illusion of Night.

I figured then since I was being published, maybe I should have a blog -- you know again, it wasn't like I was really starting to write again...

Now I have my website. So does this make it official at last?

Peace,

CJ Black
